Antenatal, Postpartum, and Birth Certification+
No previous training or prerequisites required!
A Certified Advanced Doula Specialist (CADS) is a doula who has completed certification in both Birth Doula and Antenatal/Postpartum Doula support, along with additional advanced education designed to prepare them to serve families across pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
The CADS pathway includes expanded training in areas such as communication skills, cultural competency, trauma-informed care, grief support, and breastfeeding support. Students completing the CAPD portion of the program also earn a breastfeeding certificate, adding another valuable credential to their professional training.
This comprehensive approach helps CADS professionals develop a broader skill set for supporting families with diverse needs and for navigating more complex situations across the childbearing year.
Certification Renewal
CADS certification must be renewed every three years for a fee of $100. Continuing education is required for renewal. You can read more about the recertification process here:

Medicaid and Insurance Considerations
The additional communication and cultural competency education included in CADS may help students meet certain training expectations used by Medicaid or insurance programs. Requirements vary by state and organization.
